Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Can anyone tell me the 19th C definition of "Wrecker" as in the tune "Wrecker's Daughter"?

I suspect it has to do with salvaging or plundering shipwrecks or other wreckage or possibly a reference to a conveyance such as a 19th C form of taxi service, etc.

No one knows what "Wrecker" refers to?  Not even you, Elaine Masciale?

I got up later than usual, fed the cats, checked email and the banjo ning which, in turn, reminded me that I still don't know what "wrecker" refers to and.....that if anyone knew, it might be Elaine.

Hi Al, go with your instincts

A "Wrecker" was someone who salvages shipwrecks (and sometimes caused them with false lights).

Thanks Joel.  That was one of my suspicions.

Oh.  Sorry Joel.  Somehow, your first sentence didn't reach my brain.
