"Blue Eagle Jail" banjo-style on guitar

Converses' "Blue Eagle Jail" played banjo-style on guitar. I removed the 6th string and replaced it with the 1st string.

In his Tutor Briggs tells us how to turn our guitars into banjos: take off the 6th string and replace it with the 1st. Thought I'd give it a try for fun.

Interesting. The tension with downstroke always bugged me. How does it feel to you?

You STILL haven't figured out which color to paint that room?

Tim - sloppy, especially on the thumb string. Also there's too much sustain - the notes bleed into each other. Strumelia- choose one, we'll go with that when you come over to help us paint!

Interesting.  I few years ago I bought a cittern and ended up tuning it like a banjo, though not in the same key.   It worked really nicely for some of the slower tunes and Foster stuff.  The higher thumb string turned into less of a drone than a bridge to the higher positions.

Sustain.  Not you Paul, but-  It drives me insane to play with guitar players who strum and leave their strings ringing in endless sustain on every chord for everyone to suffer with...every second seems like two minutes...i'm secretly like.. wtf??   =:\

Paul-  Brian and I started fumbling around on Walk Into De Parlor Jig today, at your prior suggestion.  We both like it already.  It's both familiar feeling yet unique and cool.

Sustained strings?  Ever play with multiple hammer dulcimer players?!

Yeah it kind of reminds me of that, Al!
