Lovely, deff makes light of the insanity opening day was yesterday in our tiny little down town. Great playing and video imagery was nice too.

Al, you've been busy!  How great this is!

So, the aspirin bottle rattle is becoming popular....which begs the question- what would a 'period' equivalent be, for reenactments?  A glass bottle just wouldn't sound the same.

Would something like an Altoids box or general tin flip top box of some kind be appropriate for the time? Would prolly also loose the aspriny plastic goodness tho.

No, I haven't been busy.  That was from 2009.  Regarding the Aspirin bottle, I guess a dried out gourd would be the obvious choice for sound.....and for a headache, I'd advise against Calomel!

Bah yes a lil mini gourd with some loose seeds is pretty much a maraca. I actually own two big seed pods that would work too.

A little gourd!--- like those Latin American percussion gourd instruments of various designs... but of course!

2009?  Sure took you long enough to post it!  Glad you did though!   :)

Several years ago Tim posted a different "Base Ball Polka" I did.  That was from 1858, the earliest baseball-related music I know of.  I also posted "Home Run Polka" (1867) a couple years ago.

I've just been saving them for opening days, but.....I'm out of instrumentals!

Just remember "Royals" and "won." You're gonna hear that a lot this season.
