History of the Banjo on PBS

A friend just told me that on PBS in October there is a program on the history of the banjo, hosted by Steve Martin.

 

That's all I know.  Does anyone else have info on this?  Date, etc.

Hello Al,

 

The title of the documentary is "Give Me the Banjo," which Marc Fields, in a recent email to supporters, says will be "part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival Series, full title: PBS Arts from the Blue Ridge Mountains: Give Me the Banjo, first air date Nov 4."

People can trace different facets of the project on http://thebanjoproject.org/

My understanding is that it will be a 90 minute documentary seeking to frame the salient elements of banjo history and its current use in various music communities.

If anyone here makes it to the next Banjo Collectors Gathering, they will be previewing it for attendees on November 3, a day before the PBS event.
