Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Word from the grapevine (twist) has it that our next tune of the week will be Mair's Jig, from Buckley's Violin Tunes, pgs. 58 and 59.

This tune looks very interesting and is great new addition to our primary resources for early banjo.

What do you think. Is Mair's Jig playable and adaptable as a banjo song...anybody?

I've got the first part down...the second part is a little trickier, I'm gonna work on it tonight.
Interesting first part, almost a calypso beat to it. The second is gonna be tough!

Here's a pdf of the Dots/TAB. I make no claims for the fingering...I haven't tried it out. At least I made sure I had the whole tune this time! ;-)
