I am introducing something new, which are a series of instructional videos. Let me know if these are helpful, or if there are other topics worth looking at. Since securing permissions from Brown University, I can share some of the material from the Phil Rice Banjo Instructor of 1858. It deals with the all-important topic of the RIGHT HAND. He refers to the right hand hitting the strings as a series of STRIKES. This is not unlike what Briggs' talked about in his book of 1855, and also Converse in 1886. Slightly different language, but the same idea. I like the Rice Book in particular for it's fingerings and repertoire. It gives us an AMAZING view of banjo in pre Civil Wars times.
