Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I'm thinking about getting my first banjo, and I'd like to get the basic tackhead from Eric Prust in Washington state. What are your experiences with the model, if any, and in gereral?

Thanks,
Lynn Kessler

For some reason he uses a plywood rim. Perhaps cost?
I played a used one at a shop a few years ago--it was my first experience with a fretless banjo; I found it suprisingly easy to play, and the tone was very pleasant--it was kind of a 'eureka' moment for me. I really wanted to buy it, but had bought another banjo just a few weeks earlier, so it was out of the question.
