Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

In a bow to popular forum fodder...

I was watching "Civil War Terror" on the History channel last night. In one sequence they depicted a male spy, dressed as a woman, infiltrating a dance. I wasn't really paying attention at first (I was actually learning a new clawhammer tune) but my sub-consious brought me up for air and I heard "Briggs Breakdown" being played. The camera dwelt briefly on a period correct banjo head but never showed the player (or even the rest of the instrument).

These history guys on TV are getting better at their craft!

Anyone here affiliated with the show? Actually perform? Supply the music?

That was me playing banjo in that clip. It was my Wunderlich banjo. I was playing with my old band. It was filmed in Zoar, Ohio. Chuck Krepley was on fiddle. I think it was 3 or 4 years ago. We filmed for hours, but they only ended up using those few seconds. I'm glad it's still out there.
How cool is that!?! I knew it had to be somebody we knew. Thanks, Greg.
