For enthusiasts of early banjo
From the Buckley 1860 book.
Could anyone tell me who Michael Whelpley was? Thanks!
Thia is one of those tunes where I praise notation...and those that took the time to get it right. Man, it captures a funky sound...and transcends it through time. All the rests...syncopation....so deliberate. I would consider this to be a great snapshot in a musical time line.
They didn't need to play one tune a million way ways...they had a million tunes...ha ha.
