Yikes, all those trills and long traveling distances...  =8-o    Was it perhaps first intended for fiddle?...seems likely to me!

Most likely. If it were his, he would initial it. I'm sure you would find the source material if you dug hard enough.

I found it. In Ryan's, it is called the "Best Shot-Hornpipe".

I wondered if it was in Ryan's but assumed it would be under a different title.  Had I known its alternate title, I wouldn't have had to try writing it out.  I'll look in Ryan's and see how close I was!

It's pretty spot on. Written in G as you did. In the Converse it is A.
