Bob Lanham's recent posting of this inspired me to give it a shot. As always, mine still needs a little more work.

That was good Paul. You are just hitting the big ones head on, aren't you?

Thanks Tim. Trying to, anyway. Do you and Al do this one? I think it would sound great banjo & fiddle.

No, we have never done that one together. Al....want to try it? ( he lives down the road but we talk here...ha ha )

Hey Paul,  have you worked from "The Banjoist's Budget" yet?

Not yet.

You're going to love it. IMHO these are the best melodies out there, and fingered with just a subtle enough push to get you in the right spot. I have extra respect for this work coming from A. Baur who saw much of it from the beginnings.

Sounds really good, and you're more true to the sheet music than I was.  I had to leave out that pick-up note at the beginning of the high part.  One of my band-mates could once play this on the fiddle, so I hope the 2 of us can get together on it some day soon.

Somehow I didn't see Tim's inquiry whether I wanted to try Dr. Hecock's until now.  But after seeing your video, Paul. I wanted to learn it.  I just, now, got around to it but it's not an easy one to latch onto!  It's a crazy tune!..... but I like it and am determined to get it into my head, even with the odd twists!

I love the fiddle version on the Early Minstrel Show CD. it's pretty wild!
