Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

'Bob Ridley-O' Hinckley Plough Bullockers (UK)

I didn't realize that Bob Ridley was imported into America.
I just love this video!- note especially the many musicians and great instruments being played by musicians in the background.

P.S. the world would be a far better place if all communities did social dancing and music playing on the streets, greens, and community centers.

Also along this line - "Alabama Joe" is actually "Trelawney" The Cornish national hymn.

It strikes me that there are no young people at all among the dancers or musicians- no one seems less than 55.   Aside from the usual 'retired people have more time on their hands' reasoning, I wonder what other causes might be?   Even at our minstrel banjo gatherings, there are always some folks in the 18-40 range.

"Alabama Joe" also is "Wet Sheet and a Flowing Sea".  I think that most of the Morris Dancers in Ann Arbor, in the '70s-80s were more my age at the time.  30ish.
