He was one of the greats. Later in the 19th century he gave a "history of the banjo" show. Starting with the gourd and going to the "Modern Banjo." Some things never change.

There is reel named for him in Coe's.
This is a good day to own "Monarchs of Minstresly"...I don't, but it is in Google Books. E.M. Hall began his career in 1865, and often played banjo duets with Stanwood.
