Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

This is a really nice little tune from Briggs' 1855 instructor; it's one of those stroke style songs that's particularly evocative of the time and style.  Does anyone have lyrics for this song?    I'm not finding anything via mudcat or Google, but listen to it and tell me you're not automatically singing 'O! Pray Goody' along to the first couple of measures of the second part.

A second question for Tim Twiss:  How do you play those double sixteenth D notes at the end of each part?  Just a real quick index finger then thumb?  I can't quite make out how you're playing it in your clip:

I never did find the root tune for this one. Once in a while the title is from something buried in the tune...I think it is that way for Sandy Boy in Rice.

I pull the first one, and then strike with the index.

Yes that is one I was going to learn , but hadnt . I will now.
