New Titles in Banjo Clubhouse

I thought that I would give you all the update. I have added Briggs' Banjo Instructor, and Phil Rice's Method For The Banjo in PDF format. I anticipate Tuckahoe will run dry eventually, and I value having a lot of material available under one roof...sweet, eh?

So, in the Banjo Clubhouse, you will find originals for Briggs', Rice, Buckley 1860, Buckley 1868 (couretsy of Brown University), and the essential Converse Analytical, 1886 (courtesy of Marc Smith). There are a few of the Winners' Books up there also. I forget where they came from, but a few are available none the less. I anticipate the Converse Green Book this year, and perhaps, someone wants to share an original Yellow Book?   

In addition, all these tunes are on my YouTube site.

So beginners (and others)....what else could you need? I hope you enjoy this resource.  Don't forget a Paypal donation sometime. I'll even take a dollar. Where else can you get something for nothing?

Hint, hint. Yeah, I still haven't found my little yellow book. My reprint is handy but the original is still laying in a U-haul box. When I look into our storage room, it reminds me of the end of the first Indiana Jones movie...

 

At least one of the Winner's is a copy of my original. I can't recall which one though!

 

The Clubhouse is now (and has been since its inception) the greatest source of minstrel/stroke-style music...for musicians...since the 1850's. Keep it up Tim!!

I have the yellow book, but I honestly can't find it anywhere. Must have fallen behind the bookcase. Lost for a long time...

That Yellow Book needs a makeover. With all due respect, it is a PITA  to play through. Some one needs to cut and paste, or renotate the songs and get rid of the explanations. That kept me from playing a lot of these for quite some time. I lnow they have been tabbed, but we should get out one for notation. It really does have some of the primo Stroke tunes in it.

I have renotated it as part of the research for an article I'm writing.

 

Probably needs a bit of clean-up and a good proof-reading but I'll try to get that together and send it to Tim.

 

Fortunately, it is among the files on my laptop rather than my poor, ailing desktop computer awaiting rescue.

I did it in Finale but will probably combine them into a single pdf file for ease of transfer.

 

After I get a chance to give it the "once-over," that is. Probably a day or so.

 

Yep, I got completely frustrated with the format of the book and felt that the time spent renotating would be well-repaid in ease of use -- it proved to be true.
