Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Another interesting example of trying to interpret and revive lost arts from historical sources

Back to the Source is a documentary about "Historical European Martial Arts", which is an umbrella term covering a number of weapons and fighting styles (of which longsword seems to be the most popular.)  I haven't watched it all the way through yet but some of the commentary reminds me a lot of discussions around early banjo source material and how it gets interpreted:

Thanks Andy. This is real good. I'd love to see discussions on the parallels. The point of historical context surrounding the source seems relevant to what we do here.

Read it , try it, evaluate.

If you substitute "banjo" for "sword" and "banjo playing styles" for "martial arts"...it is about us!

Very cool video and totally parallel on almost every count.

Except for the bits where they're butchering each other... ;-)
