I am still planning at this moment to attend, have already got reservations, but just letting you know that my father died, had funeral yesterday, and my best friend died today, his funeral is on the day I planned on coming there, now will have to leave next day. If any other problems come up may not make event. would hate to miss it.
Curtis, so sorry to hear about your recent losses right on top of one another. I'm sure there'll be folks still around Sunday but you do what you need to do for yourself & we'll see you when we can. We'll play one for your recently departed either way!
So sorry to hear this Curtis. Sounds pretty tough on the heart.
I'm imagining that your best friend must have loved your music playing, and that you'll be playing much music in honor of his spirit and friendship.
My condolences on your great losses. Is there anything we can do to make your trip and arrival easier for you.

"What meals do we need? How many will need lunch on Friday or are we planning on eating before we meet? Do we need lunch on Sunday? ...My intention is to have simple provisions so people don't have to miss anything because they have to go into town to get something to eat."
Jacalyn, since no one has responded to those points, let me throw in my humble opinion...
Last year, people pretty much all did their own thing as per food, and some of us had coolers in our cars with simple sandwich fixings, drinks, etc.
Your generosity concerning the ham and other food and cooking for many is just wonderful. But on the other hand, we don't want you missing out on playing and learning and attending the various activities because you are busy preparing meals several times a day. That said,...
Just a thought for Friday: Friday's schedule looks pretty full from 4pm on, especially for those attending both the gourd and bones activities. I'm thinking it might be fun to have a late lunch around the time the tent campers are finished setting up their campsites (and during daylight)... sort of a Welcome meal! Maybe just one hearty meal between 1 and 3pm on friday, that falls neatly between campsite setup time and activities starting? Then folks could do what they want for food after 7pm and once darkness falls (maybe nibbling on that day's leftovers at the campsites, or eating from their own coolers, or they could go get a restaurant meal if they feel compelled to).
For Sunday, I would suggest just a hearty breakfast, and no lunch. Last year it was wonderful sitting around on Sunday morning having coffee together at the campsite area and discussing plans. Some simple scrambled eggs and fried ham would have been perfect to go along with it! By lunchtime i think some campers have start packing up for the journey home already. Some will stay on til the afternoon on sunday, but I doubt an actual lunch will be needed.
Saturday is trickier. There looks to be a nice window between 4 and 6pm for a dinner meal to be possible. That could be 'The big meal' for the day. Perhaps just some simple morning coffee and biscuits with jam, or biscuits with fried ham slices and a little quickie gravy? I wouldn't bother with a lunch meal on saturday at all... looks like too busy a schedule anyway.
Hope these suggestions help. I'll confess I'm going to be more into playing than cooking, and I'm happy with whatever happens. Happy to help clean up, but I imagine we'll all be helping with that.
-Just reminding folks to bring a chair/stool if they plan to hang around the campgrounds and eat/play!
Also, I suggest again that we all bring our own place setting that we can reuse all weekend- a big and little plate, a bowl, cup, knife/fork/spoon, and maybe a big cloth napkin. There's a water spigot at the campground area where you can rinse your plate etc.
I suggest sandwiches from Food Lion, I lived off these out of a cooler for ten days at Cliffftop. Real easy clean-up!
Scott, I think it's smart for folks to have at least a small cooler in their car to keep a few personal food/drink items like sandwich stuff. Even with the occasional yummy offerings like Jacalyn mentions, we'll need to be resourceful about feeding ourselves when necessary.
I've had medical emergency and won't be able to attend. I will miss seeing all my friends. Carry on.--Rob
Oh, Rob! We'll miss seeing you! I hope your recovery is smooth. Hugs to you.
