An opportunity to play early banjo music at historic Appomattox Court House where " the banjo passed from black hands to white hands."
WOOHOO!!! The countdown to the convergence is on!!...been practicing like crazy!! Don't wanna show up and look like an idiot lol
Scott, so sorry to hear. The angels have charge over here now.
See everyone tomorrow or Saturday!
So, I am already here.... Muggy as hell. But for Friday night supper I have Brunswick stew (cooked in cast iron wash tubs and stirred with oars, of course). Egg custard pie, lemon chess pie, pecan pie and German chocolate pie. And cornbread. Ice tea and cheerwine to drink. Y'all come.
The food sounds like it will be as good as the music!
Jacalyn, you are amazing. I'll very much miss hanging out and playing/talking/eating/soaking in the place... with all of you!
Jacalyn - I have a some cornbread with prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese muffins... just the way Sweeney liked them!
But of course! It's that European aesthetic combined with authentic Americana that gives birth to all things luscious.
Have fun! I was going through some old Fretted Instrument News and read that the American Banjo Fraternity funded the Joel Sweeney gravestone in 1954. Just a bit of fun trivia.
Have fun! I wasn't able to figure it out financially this time around but I will make sure to purchase plane tickets and hotels stuffs extra early next year!
