Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've been here. Can we say overextended?

Anyway, a librarian friend alerted me to this new digital resource for early banjo tutors and I wanted to be sure to let you all know about it asap. If someone else has already posted about it, I apologize for the redundancy.

That's a ballsy request.

Yes, and the copies are lousy and sometimes unreadable.

I sent the director an email asking for better files.

Yeah but the guy was very receptive.

I don't know if I'd call it "Easy", but these are certainly worthwhile tunes to play....nothing super acrobatic involved. Easier than slugging through the Analytical. Interesting that he finally let go of Stroke Style inclusion within a volume, but his tune choices reflect a fondness of the "old style". Clean editing in fingerings, from what I've encountered.
The more I play these and look them over, the more I appreciate this a a really good simple collection...easy tunes that leave your diginity intact. So many familiar themes skillfully whittled down to their essence.
Well, anybody else find something interesting in there? I hit on the ones that caught my eye. Jim, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I don't know that there are many fingerstylists in this site.
Got to hold my hand up to "finger style ". Have found the posts about The New Digital Collection interesting, have looked at the book and hope to download the whole book when I have a minute... well two minutes to spare.

Just got a email from Peter MacDonald (the guy in charge) and they have replaced the PDF with clear ones... JOY!
Awesome, Joel. They're very nice now...easy to download, clean copies.
