From Frank B. Converse's 'Banjo Without A Master' (The "Yellow Book"), 1865. Although now that I go back and look at the source I see it doesn't call for those first 8 measures to be repeated.

Sounds good. I would never be overly concerned with form on those type of tunes.
Oh, if I was overly concerned I wouldn't have put the video up. :) I think preemptive notes like that are a left-over reflex from time spent in old-time/bluegrass banjo forums. I was reflecting today that one of the reasons I enjoy this tiny community so much is that there are not many (any?) tired, repetitive dogmatic arguments along the lines of "You can't play that one roll in the 7th bar of [song name here] TIMTIMTI, you gotta play it the way Earl played it!" or "You can't play clawhammer with your index finger, the middle finger is the one true finger!" debate.
Didn't think so...but you did mention it
I would recommend to anybody...PLAY THE YELLOW BOOK.
Solid! Solid! Solid! Some of the greatest and best arranged tunes ( take liberty with the right hand fingering...even Converse changed his mind later ).
Nicely done Andy. I like those first 8 measures repeated- makes the B part more enjoyable as a contrast when it comes around. :)
Great tune Andy, nicely played. We don't hear this one enough.
Great job Andy, I like it a lot!
I usually play this song after I play Circus Jig. The ending with the bass string on one and the beginning of the other makes them a natural pair to play.
