Okay, here we go. It becomes a strange possession once I start. good sign....first tune went down well on one take and the setting sounds good. man, I've been waiting for this book! See ya at the end.
Almost halfway. I'm lovin' this work. What a great collection. Variety, and some of the most memorable Stroke melodies...very strong original contributions by Mr. Buckley.
Although it is "available", it should be reprinted, published, tabbed, and sold along side the other "big 5".
Officially half way. A couple of more before I reach "Anvil Chorus" which will trip me up for a bit, but it may turn into the only overdubbed production of the series. How can one resist creating a mini banjo orchestra for this tune???
Got thru "Wrecker's Daughter"....now THAT was a bit tricky. Lots of challenges coming up here...whew!
I have a request. Tim, when you get to "Pacific Schottische", I wish you would post a video of it here.
I really like it although the 7th measure seemed unexpected and I'm having trouble getting a grip on it. Maybe a video would help. Also, in the 5th measure of the 2nd part, the printed music seems to have missed sharpening the 'D' as is done in the 1st measure of the part.
Got through the Anvil Chorus tonight. I decided not to do a production type thing on this, just to keep the purity of the project going. These hard tunes are like long portages. Got a nice ride coming with these tunes....not too hard.
60 of them are completed...up to page 36. What a stellar batch of music. Variety galore.
80 done. It is going very well. This will end up fitting onto a 2 CD set.
Then edit...listen...recut
As Captain Beefheart put it..."It's the Best Batch Yet" Bahh haa haa
This book should be right out front with the others. It is really tops. How do most of you relate to this book, being only as a download and in notation? Does it feel un-accessible? Should there be a publication with tab? All I can say is that this one has some of the strongest tunes on the planet....very enjoyable to play, and a great listen by an audience, I would feel certain Joe Ayers meant to do this one, but never got around to it.
Here's a little taste form one of the unusual ones in the collection. Tomorrow the tough Spalding Jigs.
