Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

On my drive across the country, I decided to stop and play along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers and dedicate some music, Boatmen songs, to the men who played on the boats and barges of those mighty rivers.

Angela, great thought and wonderful photo.

Just last week I made a simple noter-style tab for traditional mountain dulcimer players, of fiddler Pug Allen's recording of the fiddle tune Trader Boatman, which I've recently learned to play (in clawhammer style) on my banjo after listening to a few recordings.

I also love the Camptown Shakers' version of Dance Boatman Dance.

Cool picture, that would make a cool painting.

Hello, Angela: Welcome. I love the photograph. My son and I made a cross country trip (from DE to CA and back)when he graduated from high school. It was a neat experience.
