Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I am working in Nashville for about a month this summer (end of June to end of July). I'm not sure how busy I will-or won't -be. I want to make sure I explore as much music as possible. I welcome any suggestions on minstrel or old time shows/jams/workshops/teachers/builders in the area.

I actually welcome any musical suggestions, but I thought I'd keep it relevant.

Thanks!

Valerie,

Check out the diverse musical happenings at http://fiddleandpick.ning.com/

This wonderful place is in Pegram, right outside Nashville and is operated by friends of mine, Gretchen and Tim May. Call Gretchen, tell her I sent you and what you are interested in and I'm sure she will help you find some musical activities to suit your interests.

Mark-

Thank you! I've been to that site before, but had forgotten all about it. I met Tim and Gertchen (briefly) at NashCamp this summer. Oooh, I'm getting excited for this trip.

I will be teaching a banjo making workshop in TN this summer around that time.  The course will be in Knoxville.

I know it is a hike from Nashville...
