Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

There was a thread here not long ago about affordable - under $400 - banjos.

I want to let everyone know that due to a hand injury, I'm concentrating on tackheads for a month. My tackheads are TIGHT. The rims are rigid and the dowel adds stability and prevents any rim 'squash' because it's the Boucher design dowel/pin that prevents this. I pre-stretch my skins plus treat them with a substance that blocks out about 90% of the humidity. These will have a used/distressed look. Gut strings are optional. I could go on and on. I don't want this to be a commercial but I wanted to let folks know. I'm making a batch of rugged tackhead banjos with a brass star peghead inlay and star tacks all the way around the 12 1/2 inch rim. The scale lengths are 27 inches. These are tough, lightweight and play great. Ask my customers or see my website.

I've got a pile of them going now. If anyone wants a different scale length or rim size, let me know before mid October. Thanks. The BEST part.....  400 bucks.

Outstanding.  I know we have to play nicey-nice to everyone here, but as far as I'm concerned, with affordable quality like this available, NO ONE has an excuse not to have a good instrument.

End rant.
