Okay, I'm going to keep the Sweeney (our founding father) discussion going...even I if I just talk to myself. He has a very small "known" repertoire, so I find looking at his songs intriguing...thinking about how he played them, how fast, how he accompanied himself.
Next one...anybody play "Sittin' On A Rail"
I'll wait to hear from you Tim!!
With regards to tempo, Sweeney was known in his circus performing days to dance and play simultaneously (I'd like to have seen that). There are drawings of him standing on a wooden platform in the circus, where he could stomp his feet, and play. I would assume a good foot stompin' tempo would be approriate.
I play The Racoon Hunt, or sittin' on a rail. I think it's a lot of fun.
