Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I've been getting ready to record a new book, and was thinking of the Winner's. There are several. I focused ( in sequencial order ) on the 1864 "Winner's new Primer". It is one of the few I know of written in "Briggs" i.e. thumb string referenced to "D". I perhaps misjudged it, and it seems sort of cool as I have concentrated on ALL of the tunes. There is a lot of good stuff in there for early players, and many that compare to other versions. The fingers twist in ways that are not quite Rice...and not quite Briggs. Certainly worth a look. I'll have it done in a week or so. 27 sings in all.

Tim, is there an active link for downloading the music?

That one, I got from a place in England called Cogubamus. Anybody else got this one?

I checked out their web site, but no mention of it. I'll try getting in touch directly.
