Hi, Dan'l. I wouldn't be surprised if Ralph Stanley is still around ten years from now--even if I might not be! I was lucky enough to see both Stanleys--Carter and Ralph--along with a young Larry Sparks back in the early 1960s. That was one of the highlights of my musical life.

I was on an elevator at a theater with him 5 years ago and noticing he was having trouble carrying his heavy bluegrass banjo I actually said to him "You know Mr. Stanley, if you switched to an Old-Time banjo (which of course he also plays) it would be a whole lot lighter." And he said "Well, maybe when I'm a hundred." Can you believe that smack? Way to go Ralphy Baby!
