Tune of the Week
Is anyone interested in doing some sort of "Tune of the Week" idea? Either to introduce new material, revisit a standard......let people post interpretations...or provide an instructional tutor? Toss out some ideas. It should be inclusive so people do not have to feel like they have to post anything, but could benefit from it somehow. We could explore some easy but uncommon material...or hit on the standards.

Okay - Feb 1. We can post our versions of playing this. In the meantime, it would be cool to post tabs, or fingering suggestions....and any source or history of this melody.

It's a good lay. Inside enough to be playable, but acrobatic enough to be a challenge. Keep in mind that you do not have to use my tab. Perhaps someone will find a better way.

Yes has a nice bounce to it, especially the B part. I'm also gonna hit it on my fiddle. SO Feb 1st is post day..is that right?

Hey, and just to be sure we are all on the same page, this is not a competition to find the best version. It is in the spirit of participation and exploring something new. We have this great site...it seems we should do more to utilize it.

O'Neill's 1850 has it as Larry Lynch's Hornpipe. The B part is a bit different but it may have been moved up to accommodate the range of the flute.

Oh how cool. Thanks. This book...have not seen it. I have O'Neils 1001. Different book I believe. As subtle as it is, I hope someone offers some insight...into what a dotted eighth / sixteenth note figure really sounds like. I may be wrong, but I think perhaps there is more weight added to the first note, making it less of a "swing" feel. Please add you tubes of people interpreting this figure.

Ok I don't want to be influenced by any one's performance of this tune, but would like to hear it. Maybe a fiddle version...any thing out there that any one knows about?
