From Briggs. Featuring my brand new Moschella canteen gourd banjo! I'm very happy with it, and it seems to be pretty happy with me too! Thanks Jay!

Received my new gourd banjo yesterday from Jay Moschella.  Can't keep my hands off it!  It's both visually and aurally beautiful!

Oh man, that sounds great. Playing...AND the instrument. Nice feeling that snappy little skin, eh? For what it's worth, I use a little piece of that stuff you put in kitchen cabinets to keep the gourd from slipping off. I forget what it is called, but you buy it in a big roll....has a "racky" texture to it...great stuff.
Wow, keep it up....this is exciting! What's next on the gourd? Jay is so very good.

Thanks Tim.  Yeah it has a great feel to it.  The kitchen cabinet stuff sounds like a good idea, right now I anchor the extended part under my leg which seems to work.  Next up? well, that long list of "to learn" tunes....

sounds great, paul. ive been leaving my dowel stick ends long to provide a little more of a purchase for these to sit on the lap comfortable. with this one, i found that the size and shape of the gourd allows it to sit pretty comfortable.

someday i will have to learn actually play these things as well as the people i build them for. but there is so little time.

once my adverbs start leaving me, it usually means its time for my afternoon nap.

What is your scale length? It sounds great there, but try pitching to "E".....extra sweet and singing up there...(mine anyway....but they look similar). Just a thought.

About 25" right now where the bridge is set.  I'll try tuning up to E and see how it sounds.

Nicely played, and a nice full sound out of that big gourd!  Another Briggs arrangement for my 'to learn' list!
