For enthusiasts of early banjo

The Joel Walker Sweeney Early Banjo Convergence, 2013

have you guys seen this one yet?
. I like everything about it.
. Is that Joe Ayers singing & playing it?

One of Sweeny's early songs, Jim Along Josie, played on a four-string gourd banjo, doumbek, fiddle, tin whistle, and triangle.

That's probably the best version I've heardf of this one.

. I appreciate the fact he played it at a reasonable speed, not all coffeed-out like modern folks.

Yeah, awesome tempo...brings out the heart and soul of the song and the instruments. Love that doumbek too- a drum or tambo adds so much to this personable music.

Joe Ayers is in some of the pictures in the video. We played with him some at the Convergence two years ago. The recording of Jim Along Josie heard here is mine, but I'll take the mistaken identity as a compliment!
