For enthusiasts of early banjo
Joe Ayers (banjo), Mark Weems (fiddle), James Pentecost (jawbone), Mike Wesley (guitar), and Sule Greg Wilson (tambo), performing Old Zip Coon on the Tavern ...
I love the combination of sounds here. :)
Is there a picture of Joe's gourd banjo someplace to get a better look at it, and who made it?
Is Sule playing a Terry Bell tambo by any chance?- it's got that big brass jingle sound.
I'm not sure who made Sule's Tambo, but we had a great time playing with him. I've posted several video's of Joe playing his Pete Ross 4 string gourd. You can also see it at this link, as well as listen to some wonderful tracks from Joe's Phil Rice CD. http://joeayers.tumblr.com/page/2
Ah yes now I recall- the 4 stringer with no bass string, like very long ago. Yes I saw that before- nice!
Lisa- I believe the tambourine was made by George Wunderlich.
Thank you James!
