Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

A Minstrel-era song (about 1840) attributed to Joel Sweeney. Played on a replica 1845 banjo -- gut-strings, no frets, 12 5/8" goat skin head -- built from a Bell & Son kit.

Sometimes we think that teenagers are so self-conscious that they can't see anything beyond their own little bubble, but it's surprising what may resurface in their recollections later on.  I kept some the oddest little memories from my teens, and only realized later on that they had really effected me.

Of course if they don't stay to listen at all, then they'll have nothing from it to recollect.  We do what we can, merely showing others bits of stuff that inspires us.   :)
