Where is this tune from?

Collected from Louisiana, but could be from the Caribbean. Original in French.

That is like the best answer ever haha very cool stuff. I really dig the lyrics. Is it "walking with hand down"?

It has a Caribbean flavor to it...both the notes and the rhythm.  But I'm wondering whether that comes from the actual sheet music, or from your interpretation, Mark...any thoughts on that?

Walking cane in hand now?

I always appreciate the Caribbean twist. The Sanford jig video on the porch comes to mind, love that video.

Walking cane in hand - but that is only an English translation from the French. We should get Paul Draper to sing it in the original!

Strum - I'll check, but I'm pretty sure it is that way in the music. My mother is from the Caribbean, so sometimes this stuff just comes out!

Mark - can you point me to the original words? Your version sounds great btw.
