Briggs + Chubby Parker

Thanks Paul :-)
Got the gramophone voice thing down. Hmm, maybe i'll start gargling with old motor oil...lol.
Mara this is great, love your gourd banjer playing, and the froggy 'moving picture'. :)
Great sound!
Wonderful combination of Briggs and Chubby Parker. The same treatment would work well with "Who Killed Cock Robin?," a children's poem from the same period. Mike Seeger gave it the spooky Dock Boggs treatment, though I don't know where he got his melody.
You'll seldom go wrong by singing a children's rhyme like a murder ballad, and singing a murder ballad like a children's play party song. :)
HAHA good one Strumelia! I'm not familiar with that tune Bob, I will check it out. Thanks!
Mike Seeger... too wonderful for words, imho.
Mara, Here's a snippet of Mike Seeger singing "Who Killed Poor Robin?" on the CD "Animal Folk Songs for Children - and Other People." It also includes children's songs by Peggy, Penny, and Barbara Seeger. "Who Killed Cock Robin" was widely popular as a poem during the antebellum period.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0010XJ3UO/ref=dm_ws_tlw_trk53
