Amazing!  I bet 99% of people out there dont know a banjo can be played like this

You might be close to right Steve. I spent most of my life not knowing this music was out there. I hated the banjo...but this stuff is a different cup of tea, now isn't it?  I remember really liking "Les Sylphides" on the Minstrel banjo CD. It's kind of like the instrument is really minding its manners or something. Elegant, without being to stuffy.

Hi Tim, This one I especially like. I am wondering if the nice mellow sound is because of the lower tuning ? plus of course the gut strings with the skin head ? I am thinking of purchasing a gourd banjo in the not too distant future but at the moment am trying to get my fingers round the Grimshaw style over on Classic.

Thanks Sylvia. I guess the mellow sound is just a combination of a lot of things, mostly the lower tuning. I actually use a Renaissance banjo head and Nylgut strings.
