Yep, 4 string tenor with a resonator.

In the beginning of the clip, you can see that there are few strings on the banjo as he slides his hand around randomly on the head.  Later, you can see in the rear view that the 5th string peg is missing...just a hole there.  lol   Guess the prop dept was on a strict budget.

If you guys are right & this is a tenor banjo then its tuned as a fiddle or rather a ´cello

4C3G2D1A. But many Gunsmoke & Rawhide episodes have this same soundtrack

(its supposed to be coming from some saloon) so the banjo sound is dubbed.

So now what tuning is this banjo sound track using ? Any educated guesses ?
