The quircky and wonderful Mr. Baur with another from 1883.

Stop playing all the cool stuff from Mr. Baur! You have caused me to TAB out 'Go As You Please...", "Behind The Scenes Reel", "Latest Racket Reel", "Trouble Begins Reel" and "On The Barn Floor Jig".
It is hot out and I'm getting tired. Please stop!!! ;-)
They get under your skin, don't they? Still not sure if it belongs here...or do you play it o the Classic site???
Marc, this book is not subject to many typos, but what do you see in "Aesthetic Clog Dance"? Anything odd?
Haven't gotten there...yet!
I've been playing the obvious stroke stuff in stroke style, the rest three-finger. "On The Barn Floor" probably should have been left where it landed after exiting the cow...
Sometimes I think these oddities, lots of weird rests, etc., were written out missing their 'context'. Something is missing, for sure.
I'll take a look at "Anesthetic Clog" in a few minutes (after lunch) and report back.
Well it's totally the quirky rhythmic syncopations and added phrases that make this piece distinctive. if you played the tune 'straight' it would be just rather ho-hum and like a hundred similar ditties. I can sort of put myself in the guy's brain and imagine him... taking a rather generic tune and adding some timing tricks to make it original and unique....then give it a title and boom ...brand new tune to copyright and sell in a tune book. :)
I can't help but think that "Barn Floor" is a bit of stage music. I see actors or dancers playing out a scene with this as incidental music. It just doesn't flow well enough (in my mind) to be a solo.
"Aesthetic Clog Dance" appears to have a misprint in the B part's key. I think it really should be set in Emaj (4 sharps). I also added a 'natural' in measure 11 on the second A (back to A natural for the triplet)...the same with M15.
I Tabbed it out (with my alterations)...I can't remember how to post pdf files here. I'll figure that out and post it.
That's what I was thinking.
