I love the voice and archaic sounding drum here in combination with the festive banjo.  I think drums are underutilized in the minstrel 'scene' especially considering how prominent they were in the CW and also as tambourines.  More drums!- there must be some good period-correct hand drums for minstrel playing?  Maybe it's just my own ignorance on the subject... =8-*

That looks like it was a beautiful concert, Mark...what was the venue?

Joe Ayers put that great sounding loosely tightened military field drum on his Rice cd and it works wonderfully, covering both the drum and bass sections! And would have been totally period correct. We are going to try this in the Old Jonny Booker Band.
