Beautiful tune composed by Tim Twiss, on his Gourd Banjo Music and Elegant Plunk CDs.

It's a haunting tune. It's been in my head for a long time.
Nicely done! I been working on this one too. Been wanting to learn this for a while now.
Is that a county banjo?
It's a Dobson pony with silver bell tone ring
oh like a real Dobson banjo? haha very nice. I am super illiterate when it comes to fancy older banjos and tone rings and such but Dan from County Banjos builds a bunch that look like yours with the brass scoop overlaying the head.
Whats the scale length on it?
This one is from the 1890's. 22 1/2 inch scale, or thereabouts
Hi Paul,
What kind of strings do you have on it? They sound nice. I have a short scale banjo, and I am not sure I have the best strings on it. My scale is about 21.5” and the heavy Minstrel Nylguts seem a bit too slack. Although they are better now that I have tuned up to A and moved the tailpiece back as far as possible.
M'lou
Hi M'lou - it has standard "classic" nylgut strings tuned gCGBD (or a little north of that...)
Thank you for the string information.
