Alyson Slack on fiddle, Paul Draper on banjo. We got this (somewhat...) from Bob Flesher's Minstrel Banjo CD.

You guys are fantastic. De Debble is one of my faves.
Those tunes make a good pair. Great mojo!
lovely stuff thanks
great!
The fiddle/banjo combo is really nice on this! Is the sheet music for "De Bluetail Fly" in one of the early banjo tutors? The liner notes on Bob Flesher's CD don't mention the source of the melody, but says the words are from Dan Emmett.
I found a link to the original score, published "A.D. 1846"; check this out:
I'm gonna have to learn this one.
Isn't the somewhat dark Blue Tail Fly tune Paul is playing here (which is also recorded by the Camptown Shakers, and also on a video by Tim Twiss here too) a whole different tune than the cheery standard Blue Tail Fly that Bob is linking to above?
If you start where the lyrics begin, it's the same melody. It also has the same back and forth where the instrument "answers" the singer. (There are intro and ending sections that are not a part of Paul's or Bob Flesher's versions.)
