Hi Paul,
Seeing you were from NE Ohio I figured I'd say hello. Just curious, do you play in a band? We're looking for another banjo player in our period sting/minstrel group...
We're relatively new as a trio. I primarily play parlor guitar (and a budding banjo player), we have a great fiddle player (also plays banjo), and singer who will play tambo/washboard at times. We're looking for someone to play full time banjo while our fiddle player and I focus on our primary instruments. We've played out at one living history so far. We cover quite a few Foster & Emmett tunes as well as play popular music from 1850-1870's including some Irish reels & Jigs. If this sounds up your alley, we could meet and discuss over coffee or invite you over for the nect practice...
Instruments are not an issue. We have two period reproductions you can play if interested, both are Boucher style fretless with tension pots. While learning the group's repetoire you can even play your 1890...
A few of us will be playing ad hoc, Memorial Day Weekend at the Burton Century Village Living history on saturday & sunday if interested. I'll be camping with the 51st Infantry but will be picking up music after the battles.
We're practicing this Sunday May 14th @1pm at my place if interested(Solon). We're playing alot of Minstrel/Foster tunes (Camptown races, Buffalo girls, Year of Jubilo(Kingdom Comin), Oh Susanna) along with other period tunes (Girl I left behind me, Hard times come again no more, Battle cry of freedom, Tramp, tramp, tramp, Nely Bly, Marching through Georgia, Garry Owen, Lorena, Bonnie Blue Flag, Kelton's Reel, etc.) I'll track down some tab if you like. Let me know if you can make it, I'll send directions.

You mentioned to get back with you in June, still potentially interested in playing some minstrelsy?
