Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I agree, this is fun to explore these. How about one more in Briggs to keep the pull going? Either Briggs' Jig or Briggs' Breakdown? These are both AEBG favorites btw. It could be either or. What do you think? You get that crazy triplet figure wih Breakdown, but lots of pulls and a chance to look at that long descending figure and talk about that.

How about Tiger Jig from the Buckley 1868? That would be a little bit different. Check the archives. Joel Hooks did a good one.

Here is the tab and midi file

Dang...where can I attach?

Ok here...

I got one..Paul Draper, and Andy Chase. But let's play it again.

If it looks ok, we can start a new topic for the tune.

So, Tiger Jig worked out well. Nice playing. I hope it was cool to hear and try a new one. Want to do another, or are we still chewing this one?

i;m still hoping to hear Tom's version, but I'm ready for more.

Lee, I did post a video of Tiger Jig, I think it got labeled Video 2.  I am having problems figuring out how to put titles etc, on the videos, but I am learning.  I am ready to take on a new tune any time.

So how about something in the Irish tradition, like one of the many 6/8 jigs?

Inspired by today, we could do Bully for You, Bully for All, or St. Patrick's Day. It would give us a chance to work out in a different way and see how people deal with music that is more linear in nature.

Good idea.

As my great-grandfather came dto America from Ireland when he was 3-4 years old, I would love to learn an Irish tune.

These are two of the classics in our Minstrel genre, and well presented by Paul. Let's consider it open game on both of these. Anybody need music?

If you have tabs for either it would help me a lot.  Thanks.
