Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Has anyone listened to the recordings made in 1941, of Texas fiddler P. T. Bell? He was born in 1869 and learned fiddle from his Father, who also plays on some of the tracks.

I can sense a feeling of stroke style, as opposed to later banjo styles, in the structure of many of these tunes and in the lift and drive of his playing. Does anyone agree or disagree?
