I am speaking of the tune on page 38 of the Buckley 1868. I like to research tunes before I record them to have some feel for the song and lyrical content, but this one threw me. It is NOT the Foster song. Apparently, "Why, No One To Love" was his response to a popular song of the day called "No One To Love". I cannot find it, nor a performance of it anywhere. Does anyone have any knowledge, or reference to the tune. Of course I "get it" and can play it, but I like to go a bit further.

Yes, that was most helpful. Thank you. The original sheet music was marked andante, which gave me what I needed to know. It changes.....everything.
Great! :)
If some poor soul's got 'no one to love', I can't imagine they'd be skipping about energetically. No, they'd be moping along kinda thoughtfully, with their head hanging and feet shuffling...all andante-like. ;D
