Welcome to the site Steve,

If you are interested in learning more about early banjo technique and contextualizing it a bit, consider coming to the event Tim Twiss and I are organizing for the National Park Service at Harpers Ferry on May 22-23: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=325327377562

Also, George Wunderlich, who is also on this site is planning an Early Banjo Gathering event at Antietam this coming August!

Finally, plenty of members of this list have been organizing and preparing lots of important outputs as it relates to the early banjo. Spend some time searching the forums, links, and videos on this and other sites and you'll see what I mean.

Plenty to learn and try!

Regards,
Greg
