Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I am new to this forum. I have a beautiful gourd banjo by Barry Sholder. I am tuned to minstrel tuning dGDF#A. I have only learned Briggs Corn Shuckin Jig so far.
I also want learn Darlin Cory. Cedric Watson states that he plays Darlin Cory in Low C tuning. What is Low C tuning? Thanks for any assistance. Richard

Welcome Richard!

Briggs Corn Shucking Jig is a real classic minstrel banjo tune.  Cool that you learned it as a 'first tune' in stroke style playing.

Cedric is a wonderful banjo player, and singer.  We would all love to see a photo of your new gourd banjo!

This thread will help you concerning your question about Low C tuning, and other tunings you may want to use on your gourd:  http://minstrelbanjo.ning.com/forum/topics/how-to-tune
