In the current Summer, 2012 edition of Fiddler Magazine there is a 5-page article in the regular "Fiddle Tune History" series entitled "Minstrel Tales: Picayune Butler and Japanese Tommy "Hunky Dory!"

I don't want to put Tim on the spot, but he has a copy and would be more qualified than I to give a review.
The only thing I noticed was that the author, Andrew Kuntz (who wrote "Ragged But Right" and has an on-line tune encyclopedia "Fiddlers' Companion" at www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers) referred to Union General, Benjamin Butler as "Old Fuss and Feathers". Wasn't that Winfield Scott? Now, It's back to you, Dan'l. As a re-enactor, you're surely more qualified than I to give a review on that fact.
