Always a mystery how to get that Sweeney tune to work. It's closer now....we'll keep some of today. Foot tambo helps
Jake Bacchus' (Hang Fire) is another one of those old fiddle tunes that shows up in several sources, here's some more information from Fiddler's Companion:
"HANG FIRE. AKA and see “Kiley’s Reel.” American?, Scottish?; Dance Tune (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning. AABB. ‘Hang fire’ means ‘hold your fire,’ or ‘wait a minute’. Labelled a "jig" in Ryan/Cole, meaning a type of old‑time banjo tune rather than the traditional Irish 6/8 jig; Kerr calls it a clog dance. Cole (1000 Fiddle Tunes), 1940; pg. 85. Kerr (Merry Melodies), vol. 2; No. 364, pg. 40. Ryan’s Mammoth Collection, 1883; pg. 118."
Wow! Awesome :)
I love this lil cluster of vids of you two did together.
Hmmm. I notice it more now, in retrospect. I must've been difficult to play with. Especially with Jake Bacchus' Reel, I'm erratically pushing the tempo!
Sorry, Tim. I don't mean to take all the attention away from you. I'll try to smile less!
I'm more impressed by the fact that this video is someh four years old!!!
Not sure I know what you mean, Chris. Why is that significant?
Seems like just yesterday to me. Feels like a year or two tops haha
