Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Ok, here it is! My first video of me playing my banjo made from a Bell and Son kit! It's rough, but I had to get one up. Plus I left out the second go round of the last verse, just because i didn't want to mess up haha!

Nice, Matthew.  You got a fine banjo, and you're playing solid stroke-style banjo.  Look forward to many more videos from you.

Thanks fellas!  I'm really enjoying learning new licks.  As I told Steve, learning the minstrel banjo has been great!  I like it A LOT better then guitar!  Anxious to try bones at some point down the road.

The cool thing about minstrel banjo over guitar or conventional banjo is ORIGINALITY.  Who want to hang out with a crowd of drones?  We are UNIQUE.

Keep 'em coming, Matthew.

Carl's right. Unique.  My son Dan and buddy Ryan arrived at a gig a couple weeks ago, flipped open their cases and heard a voice, "Good, no guitars." Apparently the current state of acoustic guitar is pretty sad in the bars and coffee shops. Too much Wa Wa Wa Jing A Jing A Jing.  Yup, it's cool being unique.
