Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

This piece comes from the Converse Analytical and is part of "March Medley". This is obviously a stretch for Minstrel Banjo, but was specifically written in "banjo style" and not "guitar style". Most likely by 1886, the great majority of players had fretted instruments.

Awesome Tim. There are some elements of rag time in there, which are really interesting. That is more than a stretch.

Thanks John. I'm not certain of the linage of this material, but I don't think this is the quickstep of the early 20th Century. Something I read once led me to believe that the old quickstep did at least partially lead into ragtime. I'll wait to be corrected. I just don't think this tune could withstand a whippin' at anything over 100 BPM.

I stand by my previous statements that Tim Twiss is one of my early banjo heroes!
